The Electricity Club is pleased to announce the line-up for its third live event TEC003 on Saturday 13th September 2014. Taking place at Hertford Corn Exchange, the show will feature Vile Electrodes and Speak & Spell.
Vile Electrodes need no introduction as one of the best exponents of contemporary synth-pop. Anais Neon and Martin Swan’s debut album The future through a lens presented some of the finest compositions from a UK independent synth act. This also marks their second appearance at a TEC event having performed at The Electricity Club’s first live show in 2011.
Speak & Spell are one of the world’s premier Depeche Mode tribute bands and will be performing the Speak & Speak album in full for the first time.
DJ-ing during the evening will be Sarah Blackwood of Dubstar and Client fame. Sarah has been a striking presence on the music scene since 1995. First as the singer of Dubstar, she scored hits with lush kitchen sink dramas such as ‘Not So Manic Now’, ‘Stars’ and ‘No More Talk’. In 2002, Sarah formed female synth-pop duo Client with Kate Holmes. After four acclaimed albums, she rejoined Dubstar and played a sell out comeback show at The Lexington in London last year. A new album United States Of Being is now in the can and being prepared for release.
Pre-show, there will be an exhibition of early Depeche Mode memorabilia from the Speak & Speak era curated by Deb Danahay. Deb is a well known member of the Depeche Mode fan community having founded the band’s fan club with Jo Gahan.
As a bonus to ticket holders, there will be a free aftershow party featuring an additional set from Speak & Spell celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Depeche Modelive album 101. Featuring songs played at the original Pasadena Rose Bowl concert, the performance is planned to be bolstered by special guest vocalists for a truly unique occasion.
The Hertford Corn Exchange venue itself has played host to Toyah, Tenek and Bruce Foxton From The Jam. It is located not far from the Gascoyne Road multi-storey car park on the A414 which is free after 6.00pm and in close proximity to a variety of pubs and restaurants. Hertford is 40km north of London on the A10 and on a direct rail link with Stansted Airport. It is also within easy walking distance of the train stations at Hertford East (last train to London Liverpool Street at 23:39) and Hertford North (last train to London Kings Cross at 23:44).
TEC003 featuring Vile Electrodes and Speak & Spell takes place on Saturday 13th September 2014 at Hertford Corn Exchange, 39 Fore Street, Hertford, Hertfordshire SG14 1AL.
