Remix Roundup Feat: VOLKER MICH, PALINDRONES, AUW & COLOR THEORY

Mix moments…

A welcome opportunity to pull up some of the remix work that has caught the ear of The Electricity Club recently, particularly as we near the end of a busy year for electronic music.

Here we pay visits to the electropop world of Germany’s Volker Mich, sample the combination of Palindrones and AUW and end with Color Theory’s synthwave goodness.

VOLKER MICH – Set Me On Fire (Remix)

‘Set Me On Fire (Remix)’ was originally written by singer/songwriter Andrea Durzzo and served up an emphatic, piano-led tune that centred around the soulful voice of Durzzo. Here, German electronic outfit Volker Mich have switched the song up to give it a more vital, electropop vibe.

PALINDRONES – Anima (AUW After Hours Remix)

Palindrones have been an act that’s turned up on the TEC radar in previous times. Their ambient moods and glitchy beats have marked them out as an act worth keeping an eye on. Meanwhile, AUW put on an impressive live set as part of Bekimachine’s album launch earlier this year.

Here, AUW give Palindrone’s tune ‘Anima’ a workover, ramping up the trippy, dreamy quality of the original to deliver a lush aural delight (which at times sounds like something from a lost WipEout soundtrack).

COLOR THEORY – Wrath (Rogue VHS Remix)

Color Theory is the musical vehicle for US-based musician Brian Hazard, a long-running electronic outfit that stretches back to the 1990s. TEC has previously written about Hazard’s impressive output, which he’s often described as “Electronic acoustic romanceā€.

Color Theory’s synthwave wonders are always worth a spin. However, this superb reworking of ‘Wrath’ is a warm, immersive slice of pure joy. If the winter blues are getting you down, this will bring the summer vibes beaming straight into your home…
