Christmas classics reimagined…
The name of Madil Hardis seems to pop up with some frequency. An accomplished vocalist who weaves classical and electronic elements into her work, she’s collaborated with Nature Of Wires and 80 Bubbles in the past.
There’s no mistaking Hardis’ distintive choral style on vocals which lends her work a wistful, evocative quality. Her most popular releases include the singles ‘Slow Kill’ and ‘Summers Lost’ (both 2020). Madil Hardis also appeared as a guest singer on Ashbury Heights’ singles ‘Wild Eyes’ and ‘A Cut In A Place’. Her first solo album Natural Darkness is due for release in spring 2023.
Her new EP Noel offers up a striking aproach to some Christmas song, transforming established standards into ethereal and emotive gems. At the same time, there’s an element of melancholia weaved into the renditions that perhaps give these songs a more earthy quality.
The release of these songs goes hand-in-hand with supporting a good cause too. St Mungo’s outreach teams go out each night to meet people who are homeless and to help them off the streets. With 17 outreach teams, they are one of the largest providers of outreach services in the country. Each night, they offer a bed and support to more than 3,200 people across London, the south-east and southwest. They believe that people can – and do – recover from the issues that cause homelessness. They work to prevent homelessness and support people at every step of their recovery from homelessness.
You can contribute via the link below which helps St Mungo’s, but also provides you with an alternative take on some Christmas classics.
